Wissenschaft in der U-Bahn

Na ja, nicht wirklich Wissenschaft, aber immerhin Zitate zur oder aus der Wissenschaft sollen ab nächstem Monat in New Yorker Bussen und U-Bahn-Waggons zu lesen sein.

Bereits seit 1992 gab es das Programm 'Poetry in Motion'. Die Gedichte der letzten Monate kann man hier ansehen. (In London gibt es ein ähnliches Programm seit 1986. In Berlin gab es mal die Zauberflöte in der U-Bahn, aber das war etwas anderes.)

Ab nächstem Monat gibt es dann also zusätzlich ein Wissenschaftsprogramm unter dem Titel 'Train of Thought' mit den beiden Kategorien 'Science' und 'History'.

Man kann natürlich geteilter Meinung sein, ob einzelne Sprüche nun wirklich Informationen über Wissenschaft liefern. Die zuständige Marketing-Direktorin meint: "New Yorkers have wide-ranging interests, and we felt that we could include material from a variety of other disciplines in addition to poetry to bring important, engaging, insightful quotes to our riders, and entice them to explore the author or subject further."

Die Zitate sollen alle drei Monate wechseln. Begonnen wird mit den folgenden Zitaten von Galilei und White
