Es ist ein fester Programmpunkt im Terminkalender vieler, vieler Nobelpreisträger und gleichzeitig Treffpunkt von vielen hundert Nachwuchswissenschaftlern aus aller Welt. Seit 1951 ist die Stadt Lindau der Schauplatz der traditionsreichen Nobelpreisträgertagung, die in ihrer Art tatsächlich einzigartig ist.

Denn anders als übliche Fachkongresse, ist das jährliche Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting ein Ort, an dem Nobelpreisträger untereinander und mit der jungen Forschergeneration ins Gespräch kommen. In Lindau geht es natürlich um Wissenschaft, aber es geht vor allem um Begegnungen: um den Austausch, die Gespräche und Diskussionen der Wissenschaftler.

Vom 28. Juni bis zum 3. Juli 2009 steht nun das 59. Nobelpreisträgertreffen von Lindau bevor, das dieses Jahr der Chemie gewidmet ist. 23 Nobelpreisträger haben sich angekündigt und 600 junge Wissenschaftler aus 66 Ländern werden an den Bodensee reisen.

Die Vorträge und Diskussionen kreisen rund um das diesjährige Hauptthema: die Chemie. Welche Antworten liefert die Chemie auf globale Zukunftsfragen? Welche Lösungen bieten neue chemische Verfahren für die Herausforderungen einer umweltschonenden Industriegesellschaft? Welchen Beitrag leistet die Chemie innerhalb der Medizin der Zukunft?

Im offiziellen Live-Blog zum Nobelpreisträgertreffen berichtet ein Autorenteam über alle Vorträge der Laureaten und die Diskussionen. About the blog

It is the „family reunion" of Nobel Laureates and at the same time the meeting point of hundreds of young academics from around the world. Since 1951 the town of Lindau has been the setting of the historic Nobel Laureates Meeting, that in this constellation has been unique ever since.

Unlike other scientific congresses the annual Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is the location at which Nobel Laureates do not only meet each other but start the conversation with a younger generation of scientists. Lindau is of course about science but mostly it is about encounters: about the exchange, the chats and the discussions of scientists.

The 59th Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting will take place from June 28th until July 3rd. This years meeting is dedicated to chemistry. 23 Nobel Laureates announced their attendance and more than 600 young researchers from 66 countries will travel to Lake Constance.

The talks and discussions will be focusing on this year's main topic: chemistry. Which answers can chemistry supply to global questions of the future? Which solutions do new chemical techniques offer to the challenges of an environment-friendly industrial society? What can chemistry contribute for the medicine of the future?
